Have you ever wanted to "ghost ride your whip" off a cliff?
Hey guys, as many of you may know....I purchased a 1996 Mazda 626 a few weeks ago as a beater car. The motor runs great, looks like hell, is entirely embarassing to be seen driving it but it gets 35ish mpg and thats all I need for the winter.
I got out of work on Friday and I jumped into my car all excited to get home and go out to my buddies engagement party and what happens....The G damn thing is completely dead. The doorlocks are dead, it will not turn over, no interior lights, absolutely zero signs of any battery connectivity minus one thing - The headlights will turn on. Do you guys have any idea what could be the cause of this? Right now my car is 78 miles away from my house in my work parking lot and any help/advice you guys could give is GREATLY appreciated!!!
EDIT: This is about my Mazda beater car...not the Stang LOL

Is this a Mazda forum?! GET OUT!!!
Just playin. I have no idea but there could be a short somewhere or you blew a lot of fuses. Lol plus it's almost 25 years old so it could be bad wiring or something like that.

I assume the lights are bright? Did you check the battery voltage?
I would first check out any master fuses and/or fusible links; being a '96 it probably does not have a whole lot of electronics controlling things (like our GEM) so look and the power supply fuses/wiring...

I would check the batt cables. If they are corroded it will give you all kinds of trouble. cut some of the red&black protection closest to the battery terminals away from the cables and see how green the wires are
