Default Kenne Bell + n/a cams

Are there any of you out there running a KB setup with n/a cams? I'm just curious. I see a few of you guy's running Vortechs like this (stock heads, stock valve springs, stock internals, etc) but no twin screws. It started to make me wonder a bit. I asked Nick about running these cams with the KB at around 10psi, and he said he thought it would be okay. I mean obviously they're not ideal for a blower, but i'm just more concerned about any possible problems there could be.

Any of you doing something like this? Any thoughts or opinions?

i dont think you'd hve any problems, you mgiht want to run a 6-7 psi pulley though because that will crank out some hp for sure. your cams arent that radical as some ive seen with blowers on

I don't think they would be much of an issue since they aren't really all that aggressive of as far as N/A cams go. But if you are really worried about it, I'm sure that Nick would cut you a deal on a trade in for a blower specific grind. I don't know if MHS has any PD specific cams. The ones you have now are going to be worlds better than stock cams. I don't think having a blower specific cam really makes much of a difference on lower boost levels.

Yeah, i'm hopeing they'll be fine at lower boost like that. I do wonder though how much harder the valve springs will be stressed since they're stock, and the fact that a twin screw blower is going to make all of it's boost from like 2000-6000 rpm. In theory you'd think that would be somewhat of a factor.

I'm not too worried about for the most part. It's just that you never see guys running like this with positive displacment blowers, and it got me thinking a little.

You will be fine with those springs man. Especially since you will be keeping the rpms around 6,000 with the KB. You might be making a nice extra chunk of torque down in the midrange cause of the advanced centerline and the design of your cams compared to the average blower cam or stock cams. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well they end up performing.

Thanks! That's good to know. What are the specs on your cams if you don't mind my asking? How much boost and rwhp do you put down with your setup?

I've seen several stangs with built motors running cams with a KB (some with n/a type grinds) but not ones like mine if i end up doing this.

Sorry im on a built motor... didn't notice you said stock internals. Cams are comp stg II N/ A. Will have to look up the specs on them I know we had to notch my pistons.

Yes on 14 psi and 14° timing I made 530 Whp at 6k... got a return system now. So boost and timing is going up along with redline since there is no more lack of fuel.

Thanks for the opinions and feedback guys. I would hope that it's not much different running a KB with these cams as opposed to running a vortech, procharger, etc. Especially at lower boost like i'll be doing. I know there's a handful of guys on this forum running n/a cams with their centrifugals, and are doing fine.
