Stock 2002 GT, considering mods.

Honestly, I'm not really sure where I want to go with it eventually.
Like I said, I really want to go Kenne Bell, but I don't have 5k to drop right now. It'd make more sense financially to just save until I have it, but screw that. I've got like $1500 to spend, and I want to play.
I definitely want to stay on the stock block for the time being, though. I don't have the money to start getting into that at the moment.
Really, like I said, I want to do cams and throttle body. Exhaust is a given and already in the works.
I'd like to install the cams myself, but I don't really know much about it. One of my friends here knows all about it, though. He's built a couple of LS2s, and he's got a built 240sx and an R34. He's never done a Mustang, but I don't think it'll be that difficult. I don't know that for sure, though.
Edit: Would it be worth it to wait and save a bit, try and pick up a used 1.7 Kenne Bell? Or is buying a used SC a bad idea?

God I just hate nitrous. Nitrous is for racers.
Go with all the boltons and cams! Cams aren't gonna do ya any good of that pony can't breathe! This means full intake and full exhaust. CAI, throttle body, maybe upper/lower plenum, PI heads, cams, headers, midpipe, and the lot.
Oh don't forget gears! And a great tune.

Really???? Really???? it's a 2002, he's got PI heads. And if he want's to go with a Kenne Bell, what's he going to do with the upper and lower plenum? About $400 in wasted money. But I understand it's not all your fault, he needs to decide which direction he's going for sure. Once he decides to supercharge, or not to supercharge, then he'll be able to pick a direction and run with it.
I doubt he's going to do any serious mods. He's like vanilla ice. Get him a trip white 5.0 with chrome spinners!
