8" probably won't make me happy, I think I need a bit more than that. But that's a good writeup to use to install something. I'm not sure how the PO installed the wiring currently in my car, I guess I should trace it and see whats going on.

Wires got cleaned up.

One amp was for the sub and one was to power 4 interior speakers. I would rarely turn the sub all the way up. One 10" sub will be just fine. Don't bother with the two Mach 1000 subs.
That's exactly what I was looking to do honestly. I said mach 1000 stuff because it fits nice and I can get it pretty much bolt in. I can't make my own box like that, that's why I was trying to find a Mach 1000 box since it bolts in and is made for the car. I don't know if one 10 would be enough for me, but I suppose 1 semi powerful 10 would be as good as the Mach 1000 stuff.

Does anyone know how much volume is in the factory Mach 1000 box?

i have a JL stealthbox with 1 10inch JL W3 in it with a 1000 watt kenwood mono amp, and infinity kappas replacing all the mach speakers...my system out performs most ive heard in stangs, i didnt lose any of my trunk...my bass exceeds the sound of many 2 10inch setups and even one of my friends 2 12's! also running the avhp6800 pioneer in dash...not sayin for you to replace everything, but i would look into the stealthbox by JL!

I can't run more then an 800 watt amp because I only have an 8 gauge power cable, and I'll be running UDP's at some point soon too. The JL stealth boxes are expensive so that's an issue for me as well.

Oh and apparently the factory amp and such has to be removed to fit this box, so that seems pointless to me haha.

If you are not that handy and want something bolt in/bolt out, then I guess go with the 1000. But a correctly set up 10" sub can and will rattle your rear view mirror. I didn't want the trunk rattle. I had run 2 12's in my 93 tbird and if I turned it up it was QUITE loud. But with the stang I wanted the nice clean GOOD sound. Not so heavy on bass. Plus I didn't want all the weight.

I wouldnt install a mach 1000, even if I was given one. Mainly for weight and "its stock" reasons. If you just want a thump with conserving trunk space I would go with either the Pioneer or Rockford Fosgate shallow mount 10". They both have 12"s, but that will require a tad bit bigger box. Rockford Fosgate just released a whole new line of subs and a lot more shallow mounts.

I've installed stereos before so that's not really the issue. I just don't have the time to be building a box and such. Something drop in would be a lot easier for my current situation. That's why I was thinking Mach 1000 subs and an aftermarket amp. Or just the Mach 1000 boxes and aftermarket subs to put in them. I just need a nice box that fits well and doesn't consume my whole trunk. That's why I was hoping someone had the cubic feet of the mach 1000 boxes.

Im sure the cubic feet of the Mach 1k boxes are no more than .8. I know their small as shizz.

Rockford Fosgate sells enclosures with or optional to their shallow mount subs. I know those would fit real nice up against your back seat and firing at your trunk lid.

Problem with that is, being as small as the trunk is, I want to keep the option of folding the rear seats down and not having a sub box in the way.

I just upgraded my 460 to 1000 and just in case you need help with the install I made a post in the audio video section just the other day on how to install the system.

The Mach 1000 is a perfectly balanced system and sounds amazing, especially considering what it is. Sure you can get better by going after market, but you'd have to spend a nice chunk of cash to get truly good sounding bass that's better than the Mach 1000.

You won't be disappointed if all you want is a little extra bass. The 250 rms watts they operate on is more than enough to fit most peoples bass needs. Again, no it's not competition stuff, however, most the junk you see in stores isn't either and what's better is the sound blends perfectly with the stock 460.

You will still have a nice chunk of trunk space however you won't have much room to push things through if you have to fold down the rear seats, good thing is the amp rack can quickly be unbolted and removed should the need come. If you think you'll need to do this then make sure you wire everything with a disconnect and not hard wired that way you can quickly disconnect and reconnect.

Bingo.

http://www.flemworld.com/Mach460/Mach.html

According to this it's 14 liters which is about a half of a cubic foot per box for the Mach 1000 subs.
