higher compression
More agressive gearing from the factory
doesnt have those IMRC's

Only thing the 98 cobra has over a Mach is the more agressive intake cams. Also the shaker doesnt even work, jus scoops air intake the engine bay
I'm pretty sure that the Shaker scoop is functional...

if i've got around 16k next year to spend, would you recommend a mach 1 or cobra with that money? im trying to get low mileage
How many miles is low? For an 8 yr old car anything under 102000 is considered under the average. A good starting point is KBB. You can pick-up an 03 Cobra with 85K miles in good to excellent condition. For about 16K you can get an 03 Mach 1 with under 20K miles. For that price you may even be able to pick one up that is supercharged. I found an 04 MACH 1 with 47,000 miles for $16,500. It's vortech supercharged, catted x and a few other mods.

IMHO, the way things are going, by this time next year you might be able to get a fully built cobra for 16k. Sh*t you can find cobras with KBs or Whipples right now for around that price and considering what you're getting there's no reason you should pick a mach1 over it. Go the svtperformance.com and look in the for sale section, there are some great deals there.

low is 4xxxx
id prefer >3xxxx
>2xxxx would be ideal

if i got a mach 1, id want it n/a, i like buying basically stock cars, so i can really feel like i built it/modified it/customized it, so it really becomes my car, im sure you all know what i'm saying.

To forge a mach 1 motor, you are lookin at forged pistons and rods plus install... The mach already has a forged crankshaft (i think both auto and 5spd have the forged crank)... But forging the motor plus install will probably be around 2,000-3,000, then you have to buy a blower. You need to hope that your transmission can handle that load...

03/04 cobra. Much better suspension. Bilstein dampers, IRS, t56 - 6 speed tranny, better seats, supercharger, forged internals, better interior.

Everything is pointing at the cobra...

The mach 1 shaker adds like 5 hp if that
