Default Way to make the stock scoop functional?

The stock GT hood scoop being non-functional bothers me, is there any way at all to convert it to have some type of function?

With the Mach 1 scoop, air goes into a box and down a pipe into the stock air box/filter...if such a box was made to mount under the stock scoop, and the hood was altered under the stock scoop, and the box under the hood sealed to the hood...?

I dont know...but it just seems like the hard part is there, the scoop itself.

Not worth it. I have read of some people having done it and then having the scoop fly off at highway speeds.

The stock hood being non-functional bugs me too. I feel like if you want to do the mach thing your best bet is just buy a mach hood. I feel like it'd be incredibly hard to cut our stock fiberglass hoods to fit the mach intake, if even possible. I'm going to try and go with some sort of heat extractor hood such as the saleen hood. I think if you want a hood that is functional, simply to be functional, that's the best bet... Plus I think it looks pretty dang good.

that fake scoop bothered the hell out of me when I 1st got the car too. Thats why it lasted for 30days and was replaced with a cdc mach1 shaker kit.

And from reading on here, it sounds like even the Mach hood (while functional), isn't anything special for adding hp.

If it bothers you, just get a cowl hood or heat extractor hood.

It will make a temperature differance. I would vote that it helps, especially for folks who live in the south. Just grab a dremel and go to town .

I have seen this question come up many times. There are several of these scoops currently airborne on highways thoughtout the U.S.A.
