Car is getting slower in 1/4

Default Car is getting slower in 1/4

Last year I managed to get a 13.19 @ 105 I made it to the track last night and I'm trapping faster now but could only manage a best of 13.53. I know DR would help but there has to be a high 12's in a car trapping 107? right
here are a couple of runs. I'll post a video in the morning

1/8 et 8.7

1/4 et 13.53

not much into drag racing but i know track temps help or hurt tire grip. that could be a big reason. plus a car will probably never run the exact same numbers twice even under the same conditions, too many variables. it might help if you posted the numbers from that 13.19 from last year.

well, its getting cold outside again...****in reached down to the 40s the other day.  almost can't wait for the snowy stuff............................almost i don't have a twitter account nor have i ever been to a twitter web page (update: i have), but if i ever did decide to take the plunge i will let you know by posting it in this awesome little box of text (update: not really)! i like tacos lol...though between crunchy tacos and soft tacos i cannot really say which one is better.  sometimes, the mess a crunchy taco leaves behind is a little annoying while the soft taco just doesn't have the same taste... cake is so much better than pie no, srsly.  **** pie. ****ing

Your two passes in the OP seem pretty consistent...even if the numbers leading up to the 1/4 aren't as close as the 1/4 numbers.

Are you shifting at the same rpms consistently? Was that 13.19 pass on a cooler day? Today most of MI wasn't exactly scorching hot but cooler temperatures can make a small difference.

Doesn't weather play a role in performance. So temp, humidity, atmospheric pressure, etc are all variables.

It was kinda cold Fri. Lower 60's if I remember right. Here is the Video and last years slip. And that gay *** music is from the track I did not put that in the video. And I was wrong earlier it wasn't last year but 2009

its in your 60', thats where you are losing you ET

with a better 60' youll get down into the high 12's NP

Id have to say its weather...your 60fts were similar in two of your runs..so you can't really count that

Hmmm...
The thing that stands out to me are your 1/8 and 1/4 trap speeds. You are picking up 26mph on the back end, which is a lot. The 1/8 traps are low for a car trapping 107 in the 1/4. This indicates to me that you could trap even higher in the 1/4 with a better 1/8 pass. I'm wondering if your shifting is a factor...

well, in the video he is spinning a little from first to second. that will slow you down.

Your losing alot of momentum when you spin early in the run. When I used to run Nitto dr's I would spin alot on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I switched to MT dr's and my et's dropped .2-.3 consistently with no other changes.

edit: I should add that my 60' times also improved, but even on my runs where my 60' times were the same as with the Nitto's my 1/4 et still improved by .2-.3

Have you changed your shift rpm? I know on my car any thing over 5600 and it picks up MPH, but loses ET. I have tried several times even on the same day back to back passes.

Ive been avg 10 lbs a year since ive been married. Now im like 6'0 250lbs.

A little wheel spin can negatively effect your ET, but can actually increase your trap speeds. I guess the question there is how much wheel spin is he experiencing?

No question in my mind that he can trap 108-109mph with a better 1/8 pass. I agree that ET Street Radials are superior in grip to Nittos. A good DR is a very good way to address excessive wheel spin.

I think it is my 1/8 mile also that is killing me. And my clutch is on it's way out maybe it is slipping in the lower gears and once it stops slipping after the 1/8 it is able to push me into the 107 traps. I did spin a little on me take off and 2nd gear change but I don't think enough to real kill my time plus my 60ft isn't that bad for being on street tires
