I have a 1996 Gt Vert with 200K on it.
It threw a code of P0340 (cam positon sensor)
My question is, Where is the sensor located?
I was going to change it first to see if this fixes the problem. I've also read that the alternator can trip this code but since the sensor is $30 and the Alt is $200, I'm hoping the cheaper one does the trick.

mine used to throw that code when the temps were above 85, replace the sensor = fixed. the sensor is located on the left hand side of the engine front cover, one bolt holds it in place. its a 5 min job max.

I must be blind. All I see are the coil packs and power steering res.
Is it lower down?

yes its lower down below the coil packs, you are very close just look a little closer.
