Koni STR.T Review
Hey guys,
I figured after being lowered over 1.5 inches and 94k my stock struts have about had it. So I was in the market for some new ones. After some research for the best bang for the buck/performance improver I went with the Koni STR.T's.
The SN95 versions aren't really readily available and I know the whole talk about "you need to use fox body setup if your lowered more than an inch". I actually emailed Koni themselves and they said either ones would work for me. I also talked to Sam at Strano Performance(where I ordered from) about what to do.
I ended up going with the fox body struts and the sn95 rears. Laying out the fronts side by side you can clearly see they are about an inch shorter. The rears actually had the same length(I had Monroe Sensa Tracs for a fox body in the rear),I guess the dampening characteristics are different though.
But anyway I installed the first strut and put the car on the ground and pushed on the fender, it barely budged at all, compared to the other side which bounced a good bit. This got me a littler worried but I went with it. Got em all installed and went for a test drive.
Let me just say these are a HUGE improvement over what I had, I didn't know they would feel so different, handles so much better, just overall it has a smoother more refined ride. I'm not sure how they compare to say Tokico or Bilsteins, but the price is definatly a bargain for what they are if your looking to replace your stock or lowered stang and not step up to adjustables.
It was a long read if you stuck with me but I highly recommend them.
My setup right now is....
Eibach Pro Kit Springs(No rear ISO's)
Steeda X2 Ball Joints
MM Full Length Subframe Connectors
MAC Upper and Lower Control Arms
94-97 GT Strut Tower Brace
Koni STR.T Dampers
