I liked 555s until I started exploring other high end brands. Now they rank right about Sears All Seasons for me.

Ok, find me one of your high end brands that offer a decent tire in the price range of the NT555's that will compete with it. In case you didnt know...OP needs a good tire cheap. You cant get much better than the NT555 for the price. You need high end tires because of what you drive and how you drive. DD tires that are good in the rain and have decent tread and do ok for a bolt-on car, cant beat NT555's.

So long as you pepes understand, he is talking "in the price range" here. The NT555's are a fine tire, but are plenty of tires that will shred them in terms of performance if you are willing to spend more dead presidents.

Oh yea Jazz, by far! If money wasnt an object, we'd all be cruising around on PS2's for sure! I wish I could afford a set of them but they are far out of my price range.

I got nitto 555s and i probably wont buy them again. They last a long time and have good straight line/ water characteristics, but their sidewalls are soft so the car feels like it doesnt handle as well as with a tire with harder side walls.. a more handling performance type tire just makes the ride and turns feel alot sharper.

Ill definatly find something with harder sidewalls for my next tire purchase. My nittos have about 20k miles on them and they still have tread.. very durable.

For me personally, BFG G Force Sport has been a better tire than the NT555 for wet/dry/cold street driving in the same price range and still falling into the bottom edge of 'performance' tire class.

Purely a DD, I ran a set of Falkin Ziex 512 on a set of 17" Bullitts for awhile. Was impressed with all around traction - even ran them in the snow of MN and didn't have issues.

Also have run a set of Hankook VS4 for DD use on 17". Again, much better wet grip than the NT555 offers.

Awhile back, I ran a set of Kumho Ecsta on my 18". Loved them for street use. Same story, almost equal dry traction and far better wet.
