Default How hard is it to swap a 4.6 3valve into a new edge GT?

Found a cheap complete 3valve on CL locally for 800 bucks, says it has a blown piston, for 800 its alsmost worth buying to check it out...if the piston is all thats bad it can be replaced cheap enough.

These were supposed to be 300hp/320tq out of the box...and the 2v was 260hp/300tq. So its not a big step up in power for the work involved but would it respond well enough to mods to make it worth it?

Also, he says its a GT engine...but that looks like a suspiciously tall intake manifold to me. If its really an Explorer or Truck engine...its less power, but Iron block...so not a bad trade off I guess?

can have a blower on your car and tuned making more power and it will still be cheaper than buying a popped 3v, getting it machined, rebuilt, and made to fit in your car.

edit: just looked at the cl link, and correct me if im wrong, but that looks like a 2v motor out of a truck.

Thats most definately a truck engine. You should look into doing a 4v swap if you want your monies worth.

Thats a 2v truck motor same one in my f-150, but as far as putting a 3v in the car, if you have a donor with ALL the parts it will be relatively easy, a 4.6 is a 4.6 (except transverse mount 4vs), so it will drop in and if you have all the related air fuel and wiring ecu etc it will plop in. The biggest question is wether it will be cost efficent for the power gains.

Put a blower on your car. Those swaps are overrated IMO. Blower or buy a whole car around a 4 valve, aka go buy a Mach or Cobra.

For what you would get out of it, it's not worth the hassle IMO.
