If you want to try this, go for it. Get your stock handle(if you still have it), and pull the rubber isolator off of the stock handle and place it between your new handle and the base. Should help quiet it some. But every STS is going to make noise whether you like it or not.

yeah thats the problem I dont have one the steeda was on there when I bought the car. The transmission noise transmitted throught the shifter is at a minimum but the rattle seems like its the handle vibrating off the shifter set stops. It only does it in 3rd and 4th and only after it gets warmed up.

I highly doubt its the shifter making the noise. All STS's are noisy because they have no rubber isolation. The stock shifter was designed to minimize NVH. The aftermarket shifters were created to have a short throw and stiff centering springs. NVH I dont think was a concern. It is all probably just noise transmitted from the transmission, and it does it in 3rd and 4th because by that time your getting up to a decent speed and the gears are moving a good bit faster than they were in 1st and 2nd.

Did you guys install the rubber gasket that goes in between the shift handle and the base. I'm talking about the little rectangle one with 2 holes. I haven't noticed any of the problems you guys are describing with my tri-ax.
Than again there are so many other sounds it is probably hidden.

I brought that up and the triax was already installed when he bought the car. I dont have mine in. It transmits noise, and I dont mind. If I minded noise, I wouldnt put exhaust and noisy aluminum differential bushings in. lol

If you bought the car and its had the Tri-Ax for a long time it may be an early model without our noise isolator which we started using about 7 years or so ago.

Its a simple pre-cut rubber piece that goes between the shifter handle and the base pivot lever. We have this piece available separately. If you are interested in trying it give me a call.

Also check and make sure the shifter stops are not touching in 3rd and 4th.

I have a pro 5.0 and have no noise coming from it by I have also installed a few tri-ax for friends and have never herd a buzz sound I would take SteedaGus up on that rubber spacer and see if your problem isn't solved there.

I have never had an issue with my Steeda tri-ax shifter. Since the day I installed it, I could not be happier with the performance of the car and the shifter. No rattles since installing it. Gus seems like he has the fix IMO. Good Luck

With a hard suspension and other things NVH will come from all kinds of sources and it can all add up. Yours rattles in 3rd and 4th too? Do you have a metal shift **** on the car? How about the noise isolator? I had the noise isolator and a stock **** on my 96 Cobra and that combination was nearly silent.

Clutch quadrant buzz is usually from a little too much slack in the cable adjustment from what I have seen. That and some quadrant designs don’t have the spacers we use now to keep the quadrant where it needs to be. Both combined can produce some noise.
