Default Those of you running 55W HID's..

Did you have to get the relay harness? And are they significantly brighter than 35W (basically are they worth it)?

I currently have 35W 8000k in my headlights and foglights but i'm tired of it. I used to love the blue color but now i'm just sick of it. Besides, ever since I put my smoked headlights on 2 years ago, i lost a lot of visibility of the HID.

I'm thinking about pumping it up to 55W headlights 5k and just getting new bulbs for my foglights (3k). I think i can pull the look off and i'm hoping it will SIGNIFICANTLY increase visibilty.

Anyway, i'll be selling my headlight HID's which have nothing wrong with them... Maybe $30 shipped? They were worth $150 when new 3.5 years ago =/ They work great and are very bright with the stock housing from 99-04 but once they get in the aftermarket smoked housing, they can't cut through enough for my liking.

I have the 35 watt hids in my headlights and like you I have smoked headlight housings. I plan of going to the 55 watt soon. I'd say it's worth it. I've compared the 35 watt and 55 watt side by side and it is brighter. Check out ddm tuning, it's based in San Diego and their prices are pretty competitive.

That's funny. I have the exact setup. 5k 55w headlights with 3k 35w fogs.

To your question, no. No relay or anything. Same as your current kit.

It was suggested to me not to get 55w fogs, as the small housing is susceptible to overheating and melting.

The 55w's are EXTREMELY bright! I get flashed on a nightly basis, however, I have never been pulled over. Been behind cops and all.

Don't bother with getting hi/lo's with 55w. Not only will you never need brighter lights, but you'll be disappointed with the light output of the 'hi' beam.

_______

Also, how do you figure DDM is based out of San Diego? (a whales vagina?).

They ship out of china brah. Anyway....$60 for a HID kit with a lifetime guarantee is pretty hard to beat.

I am a HUGE fan of ddm. I bet most of you know about them bc of me. I advocated them years ago and I still do. I'll definitely be going ddm.

Crash what temp are your headlights?

Moonshine thanks for that picture! Looks good. I'm pretty set on those temperatures...

I also know I'm not getting hi/low. I actually tried them bc a friend had a pair hanging around and they sucked. Waste of $20 if you ask me. I have a relay hanging around if I need it so that's not a big deal. I was just curious.

I actually tried trading my friend my 8k for his 6k and I ended up blowing a fuse so I put mine back in. I'm going to try switching the bulbs tomorrow one more time and putting in a new fuse. It coulda just been a freak incident, but if it blows again, I'm ordering the new lights. If not, I'll ride with 6k 35w up top for a little and see how they work. They should be significantly brighter since they really are a lot whiter than the stupid 8k.

And ddm is definitely based in Cali. A friend of mine had a buddy in Cali who was picking up acar or something and he came back with a bunch of hid kits bc he stopped by the ddm warehouse lol. So they are definitely selling here in American hahaha

I was thinking about going The 5k/3K route for awhile. Didn't know if I could pull it off or like it. I just bought the 5k and now I'm just wondering if I should buy the 3k fogs or just keep it all 5k. I love the look of them both.
