5.4L Engine Swap, maybe!!!

5.4L Engine Swap, maybe!!!
Alright, so I've done a bunch of reading, and my engine is likely on its way out, having been mistreated by previous owners, and supercharged, and being over revved. They were revving to 6500 with 7psi boost KB'd.
I found a guy parting out an F-150 with the 2V 5.4L in it, willing to sell me the entire thing for $350. So I was thinking I could either buy the 5.4L, cam it, go N/A, and sell off my KB and my 4.6L, or another possibility:
I know there are adapter plates to fit the 4.6L intake manifold onto the 5.4L block. Is it possible to bolt the KB onto the 5.4L with this setup? I also do realize there would be hood clearance issues, etc., but right now I am just wondering if the supercharger would bolt on, or which path would be the best for power/not exploding..
Thanks for your input!

You can get adapter plates to run a 4.6 intake manifold on a 5.4 from reichard racing.

Ive seen them on the corral forums anywhere from $125- $300. It should bolt on just fine with all of your accessories. Probably just need a longer belt.

I've never really heard great things on the adapter plates. They physically bolt up and work but it wouldn't be my first choice. Although, in a boosted application, it might not be as big of a deal.
On the other hand, usually you can get pretty good money for used KB and that could get you right in line to build a nice turboed 5.4 2v.

Yeah, I was thinking of going N/A for a while, buying the 5.4L, bringing it home, putting new heads/ cams on it, selling my KB and my 4.6L, together or separate, and looking into a procharger or turbo setup. This way I can avoid the hood clearance issues of a 5.4L + adapter plate + KB on it. I really don't like the look of the high cowl style hoods :/

Alright, I will be picking up my 5.4L motor in the next week or so, and working on it through the winter to have it installed in the spring. Right now the setup is looking to be:
5.4L 2 Valve
Trick Flow Heads
Stage 2 cams (blower cams)
Shorty headers
Custom Fab X-Pipe
Flowmaster catback
Some kind of low boost. Don't want to get too crazy, and shouldn't have to with the other parts.
If there are other parts I need, let me know. I'd also love for intake suggestions; ie other options that don't include the adapter plates. Using them I could use my kennebell? if the pulleys line up with a lightening belt... Otherwise I'll likely get an intercooled procharger setup.

You have to modify the mid pipe.... no way around it. You are also going to need an intake manifold. You're not going to want to rock a truck manifold.
I'd look into the HPS Hardball'r intake. http://www.hiperformancesolutions.com/54.html
It's really your only option on the market today short of adapter plates/sheet metal intake.

Alright, if I use another form of f/i or go N/A I'd definitely go with that intake manifold. I'd love to bolt my kennebell on the top but I am not convinced of the pulleys lining up? If I could, I would deal with a cowl hood to run my KB since I already have it...
