>>>note my comments here are in reference to the 3650 tranny and may not apply to the t-45<<<
I use Mobil 1 ATF (yes, ATF). Also, double check the fill amount, on the 3650 it is actually below the bottom of the fill hole so you really can't use that as a point of reference.

I am running Mobil 1 ATF and it shifts pretty well, but many guys i know have changed to the AMSOIL ATF and they absolutely swear that the shifting is smoother than any other fluid they have used. I plan to change mine to AMSOIL ATF in a couple of weeks.

If you have the stock shifter and haven't changed the fluid in a while your mind will be blown when you STS and new fluid in.
Out of all the mods I did when I had my 5 speed my favorite was my STS (I just had bolt ons)

Just give the new MGW a few days to get used to it before you decide if you like it or not. The transformation is huge and you may think the new set-up is too notchy, but you will love it in a couple of days!!!
Get a set of the new rubber gaskets for the shifter base when you do this. They allow you to pull the shifter anytime you want and reuse them without having to mess with sealer.

Heres some info I pulled for an old post of mine.
Keisler Transmission and promotion performance highley recommend to NOT use a synchromesh fluid in the t45 because it deteriorates the liner. So I went with royal purple ATF, but I don't have any expereince with synchromesh in my car.... I can say my t45 has a whopping 140k miles on it and was the original trans when I bought the car in 2003-04 and ive done nothing but beat the living snot off it and it shifts like butter every gear still.
The liner actually refers to the blocker rings, in a t45 that is stock the blocker rings are composed of a paper/organic liner, when the synchromesh fluid is used the additives in the synchromesh actually increase the deteroation of the liners. Aftermarket "Built" transmission or some more modern transmissions use a carbon/kevlar liner for the blocker rings where the synchromesh will be suitable.

And what I have seen elsewhere say it is 3.2 - 3.3 qts for the T-45 also. But in this case, it is to the level of the fill hole, so that method should work here.

Amsoil and Mobil 1 are both full synthetics and both come highly recommended (I use M1 myself). Note that it is Mobil 1, Mobil makes other oils too that are either all dino or blends.
The other brands mentioned probably are full syn too, or blends, but I don't know.
