98 gt motor in a 96 gt body

something tells me youre NOT getting a supercharged 98 motor for free...
and if it actually is then its prolly going to be problems...

Why do you need a convertible? Especially one with 170k on it? Just try switching coil packs and plugs from the 98 if you seriously "have to have a cnvertible". (Which I dont know why, and I am guessing your going to give an answer that convertibles are cool)

Wait, what? You want to swap out a perfectly running motor with 170K on it for essentially the exact same motor with 60K miles, but has been supercharged? You can bet that the supercharged engine has been dogged to hell and back, so wear and tear is likely going to be the same.
You seriously need to think that through. That is a ton of work for absolutely no improvement.

^No he's switching it out because he threw a CEL. So it really isn't a good motor anymore..:rolling eyes:..

Well I would like to think ppl for there none help. I don't think convertibles are cool its always been my dream car and I got it. Now as far as the free motor yes free because I know the guy who has the car and the one getting the car he don't want the motor just the body. So there is a motor will just be there. Hmm and from what I've been told there is a computer problem with the car. But as far as the light comming on it was the #4 miss fire so that has to do with the plugs. Now as far as the supercharged motor being doged out well the guy who put it on told me he did it at like 25000
Miles there 60 on it now. The guy who has it now dont drive it. There was a younger boy who drive it and dogged it but that was only 20000 miles or so but I do what to get the motor and change it that is the reason for this I want to know is everything the same but the fuel lines.

Ok now a update on this car and the reason I am looking to do the swap. I took the car to the shop age and well they did a conpression test and well the out come is I have a burnt valve. I called a shop and they gave me a price of $2000.00 to fix it. I found a set of pi heads and intake all for $300. I have thought about getting and just doing that. But is that worth it or should I still jsut replace the motor. Like I said when I started this I am new here and I might not get it all out but I dont just want to blow money like I have too much of it. So bacl to my question the 98 motor in the 96 body will it fit and what all will need to be changed ?

the only downside is that you cant run too big of a cam, if you keep the NPI heads you can run a MUCH larger cam, just swap a PI intake on there with a set of longtubes and youll be all set, make right around 260-270ish rwhp...
doing more with less is always a plus too

just have to run 91+ octane since the compression bumps up to 10.7:1... kinda of eliminates running forced induction but thats about it...

I found a set of pi heads and intake I could put on my 96 motor. Or I can do a swap to a 98 gt motor. The 98 is a free motor guy bought the car for the body and has a built motor he's putting in the car. So the question is will a 98 motor go in to a 96 gt body and what all had to be changed. I know the fuel lines are different will I just have to run new lines ? Or is there a way around that ? If I got the pi heads and intake for 300 is that a good deal ? Would that fix the burnt valve or would I still have to look at other problems too ? The shop said $2000 because that's the price to rebuild both heads and all the laber and all I know most of the is labor. So what do you think take the chance with the pi heads and intake or swap the motor ?
