is it possible to throw the 2.8 Mammoth on a 98 cobra motor it says its for an 03 cobra but looking at the specs they seem the same is there something I am missing?

I am redoing all my internals in the 98 cobra motor ie pistons cams vavles springs etc so can the engine handle the 2.8 or should I stick with the 2.1 it recommends

It's not a straight bolt on like you are hoping. It's designed to work as an upgrade to the Eaton blower, not be bolted up to the N/A motor from earlier years.

if you do the eaton swap and just use the kb it will fit with just a little more work. it would be alot easier if you put a set of 03-04 cobra heads on the motor when you have it apart. if you are interested i am selling my 2.8

you would have to put C heads from a mach 1 or 03 cobra on the car for it to work.

op, theres a guy other on corral and svtp selling a small 1.5 kb made for the 96-98 cobras.

Stay very far away. you wont make crap for power with a 1.5 on a b head motor. Steves 2.1 topped out at like 395rwhp and coundlnt go any farther due to non-IC. 1.5 your talking 340-350rwhp. Personally KBs on b head cobras aren't the best, youll need meth to even see 400rwhp safely.

I disagree I made 390 on 8psi and did the meth to make up for no intercooler ... He's doing new internals just run more boost and see 450+

Hell never make 450 on a 1.5, and forged internals wont lower his IATs hes still gonna be overly restricted without meth. Doesnt mater what internals he has without a way to lower iat hes not gonna make power cause he wont be able to run more than 10 pounds probably

Yes the 2.1 can def make te power, like any other blower turning up the boost. But his internals aren't gonna be the problem its the heat. Without the meth hes not gonna be able to push enough boost to make that. With alot of boost and high temp air charges u can be scorching a ringland and not even know it untill one day it just grenades on ya.Detonation cant play nice even with forged pistons.
