Default Need Opinions...

Mod swap into my 83 as I have said a couple times before.......

Now.... I have a 99 Crown vic motor (NPI) with 170k on it and a 01 F150 5.4 (PI) with 200+k....so both motors need some bottom end refreshing....

I was at first just gonna put some PI cams in the NPi 4.6 with a little port work and call it good. Then I found out that I have full rights to the 5.4.....

SOOOO...

I can either just go ahead and take the PI heads/cams off the 5.4 and slap them on the 4.6 with the other parts that are needed which I don't have yet....

just use the PI cam's and do the port work like I mentioned before on the 4.6......

OR

go ahead and use entire 5.4 and swap that into the fox....

I need to go through the bottom ends of either motor no mater how I look at it and I am probably gonna gonna get some lower CC dished pistons to bump the compression up while I am at it...

Either way I am planning on eventually swapping the heads out for the 32V heads.......

The motor will still be backed by a 4R70W that has a little internal work.

Once the car is done it is gonna be a cruiser with a little track fun but it will be my DD so all out power isn't exactly the purpose of the build. I am still going to try and retain decent gas mileage and make it comfortable for the wife and kids to drive across country...as comfortable as possible in a stang lol..... if I wanted to....even though it probably won't happen lol....

Basically I am doing the swap because I have always wanted to and the car will also have the SN interior to match. If I wanted the speed I would just build another pushrod.....

Soo.....use the 4.6 to swap or just go ahead and swap the 5.4 in...?????

Fox=4.6 head swap bro, personally i love the get up and go of a 4.6 I am no master mechanic but I do know the power to weight would be about the same either way because one is bigger than the other but with a fox body, 4.6 just my opinion.

If you have the skills to drop in the 5.4L and don't want to go with LT headers, then go for it. Whats not to like about the added torque? Personally, just for ease, I would PI swap the 4.6L.
