So I went outside to make a call to get a ride and when I came back this is what he and the owner had to say. This is a major F-up and we are just going to replace the gears under warranty at no cost to you. So they are going to replace the gears this afternoon/this evening. Hopefully it will be right this time. I will let you all know.
Its nice to see a shop fess up and make it right. Hope they get it right this time!

I would definately take it back again. I know gas isnt cheap, but if youre not feeling comfartable youre better off taking it back and being over cautious than having something break and them telling you you should have brought it in. A good mechanic will understand your concern and want to make it right. My mechanic is great and listens to all my concerns, regardless of how many times I ask the same question. Keep going in until your happy and if that doesnt happen, its time to move on.

They didn't specifically say, mainly they said the backlash was off but that was just based on hearing it and not tearing it apart. Before they even started working on it they decided to just replace the whole set of gears. So it's unclear if they are saying it is the backlash or the gears. They have the car now so hopefully they will be more meticulous this time. He said te backlash was set at 9 and the specs say it should be between 8 and 12

Ok well picked the car up tonight. They stayed till 730 working on it. I drove it back home and tonight and there is almost no noise at all. It is very quiet and unless you listen for it you really can't hear a thing. It is easily 10 times better than it was. So I am gonna be extremely careful during the break in period to hopefully keep it noise free. I would say to anyone who is having hear noise, make the installer fix it. I was hesitant about taking the car back but I am glad I did.
