Default 04 Vortech Build, First start up question.

Alright so it's coming down to the niddy-griddy, and the build date is coming up quick. My question is as far as the first start up goes when the install is finished how many of you just crossed your fingers when you got to the dyno that everything would work fine or did you guys send your computer in to get a tweak tune to make sure it didn't have issues?

Mine was already at the shop when we did the first start up so we just rolled it onto the dyno. If you are not at your shop you will need some sort of tune to get it there just to be safe. Either that or have it towed to the shop.

If your tuner is familiar with vortech's or superchargers in general he should be able to load a safe tune into your programmer. I just had to tell my tuner what injectors, MAF, and fuel pump was in the car. He loaded a tune and i was able to make the drive.

That is what most people do. Tuners basically just give you their standard base tune that they use to put on the dyno. Typically it is very rich and has minimal timing. It is very safe to drive on, just wouldn't typically get on it before its fully tuned for the sole reason you don't know what all could go wrong. Could be maxing out your fuel pump, could have a vacuum leak, could be getting low fuel pressure, etc.

Thanks for the advice guys. On a plus note I got some side projects done for the stang such putting a few new badges on it, new wheels/rims, getting the bov welded onto the piece of intercooler piping and getting the front cobra bumper repainted because of paint chips and travel.
