i was looking at an 06 GT and thinking i may go take it to the dealer, see how much they'd give me and if it's satisfactory use it as a down payment on the 06 however im not really sure, i had a mark VIII engine swap lined up for my car and they guy backed out at the last min and didnt want to sell

and i cant find a 2V here for less than 750$, tbh i'd just like to get the real thing, however i think insurance would kill me

Trade in wont get you anything, i would imagine they will give u less than the value of a 2000 v6 and in some states that car could be considered an r title now. The bottom line is you have a 2000 mustang, not a 2000 mustang gt.

When I was looking at some other cars recently, the salesperson was basically like "...yeah you're not going to get much for a car that old (its the 1999)".

I'm sure they will still accept it though if you just want to get rid of it, but a 2000 V6's trade in value isn't going to be much.

There is a car dealer near me called Prestige Auto. They deal primarily with sports cars. Lots of cars on their lot over the years were cars like yours. So some dealers would consider it, others won't.

You're in a position where you will get more for selling it outright.

Think if you were the dealer. Would you trust a car that was essentially violated? Consider you know nothing of the person who did he work.

Definitely sell it private... Someone will find great value in being able to insure their 2v 4.6 as a 6 :P

The big downside for a dealer is they have to sell it as a V6 as per the VIN, which means V6 loan value for those who can't pay cash. Plus, anyone smart will never buy a modded car unless they know the builder/owner to make sure the mods are up to par.
