This was with longtubes, intake, 4.10s, subframes. And LCAs. Roughly a 12.6 1/4 pass

"Burn out" should not even be in the discussion with most street tires!!!
Anything more than rotating the tires a turn or two to clean junk off of them is more likely to hurt you than help you.
John Force burnouts on street tires is a rookie move.

I would absolutely recommend driving around the water box, if possible, with street tires. There is NO need for water to spin them 1 or 2 rotations, and tracking water up to the start line will result in extremely poor launches.

I run ET Street Radials and LOVE them!!!
They stick very well and can easily be driven to and from the track if you want to.

just like trueblue said, i drove around the waterbox and dumped the clutch for a couple of turns to get debris off.

you two can say what you like, i understand that street tires are not designed the same, so they don't receive the same benefit from burnouts. But i have proven all i need to for myself to believe that no burnout at all doesn't work. This could be all related to which street tire your choose to run. I would say this and have said this, if you dont think it works fine, but try it before you assume it doesn't. I took my 245 falken street tires, did not burnout fried them off the line and through second(think it was a 2.2 or 2.3 easy on the clutch slipped it out just nothing there to hold it). Did a 5 second burnout roll out of the box till they caught, dry hopped. bam repeatable 2.01 60' times on stock gears and suspension. so call what i chose to do a rookie mistake. But i dont see a lot of rookies driving a mild bolt on mustang in the low 13s. ( no sticky tires, no suspension, no gears, no long tubes, factory wheels, full weight)

Summer performance street tires can be quite slippery in cooler weather. Therefore, if it is cool outside and you have those type of street tires a little burn out could add enough temp to keep them from being slippery.

In general, burn outs will not make a street tire sticky. They can in fact create a more slippery condition.

I agree that guys should experiment with different techniques to see what works for them, but don't expect street tires to behave the same as drag tires.

I have seen my buddy 60' 1.7's on plain street tires, but he is remarkably smooth and was getting all he could out of the tires and 500rwhp(turbo). I ran upper 1.9's on my street tires, but never any better than that. It is possible that simply getting it right on the launch resulted in lower 60' and not spinning the tires profusely in the waterbox.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE is the way to get good launches.

thats true not saying i couldn't have gotten better times without burnouts if i didnt practice, but i do know for those tires anyway i couldn't be aggressive without a burnout, cuz it was like ice. yea i dont know if i could have gotten better than 2.01 i think i coulda gotten 1.9x but sadly as i was getting it down i fried the posi and couldn't get a consistent launch after that.

pass 1 2 3 4 last year
reaction .190 .117 .044 .195 ds
60 2.59 2.60 2.27 2.30 1.67
et 15.34 14.73 14.59 14.38 13.74
mph 95.37 97.07 96.16 97.11 98.00
launch 2600 2600 2200 2000 2600

on the first pass i made a rookie mistake and didnt unplug the tuner. i went for second gear and got caught on the cord.

both pass 1 and 2 i spun like no other.

pass 3, i lined up against a ws6 ram air trans am and won but let off before the line and he ran a 14.52.

pass 4, i was so sick at this point i was ready to come home and lined up against a honda civic. i beat the ricer by 1.5 secs.

my buddy went with me on both occasions and at the end he only had one word to say "tires". he said that i am putting more power to the ground now and the thin 17" sidewalls cant hold it.

before i put my south side machine control arms on, i think that i need subframe connectors and drag radials. where is the cheapest place to get mt et streets? do you all think this is the way to go before installing the control arms, then shocks?

^^These parts will drop almost a full second off of some of your sixty foot times. That's nearly a two second reduction in your quarter mile elapsed time. I apologize for sounding like a broken record, but dude, you've GOT to hook if you want to run the number. And southsides & DRs aren't gonna cut it.

TIRES.
That is the best answer to your issues right now (plus practice).

Beware of salesmen because their stuff is always the best

Get a pair of nice DRs and see if that doesn't fix most of your issues. I bet you will be VERY happy.

Id go with a 26x11.50 Et street, which is a bias ply street legal slick. The et streets in the metric size are radials.
