I'm hoping the problem is something unrelated but if it isn't and the repair bill is huge I'll have some options as to what to do with the car but since its not a DD and I don't have much cash, the car will just have to sit for a while.
Have you checked all of your hoses? Heater hose could be dry rotted and might need to be replaced (could have blown). Do a cylinder leak down test if you can or haven't already.

Took the car to a local shop. Turns out my repair was OK because the problem is a bad head gasket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got quoted something like ~1600 bucks for the fix. I'm kind of thinking about getting the heads ported or polished (whatever its called) while they are off but I have no idea how much that costs and if I'd need a new tune. I don't have the cash to really even do that anyway for now.

Does that price quote sound high/low?

The shop got back to me today and said the cylinder head with that pit/divot in it is from corrosion and if they use silicone/RTV like I did then they won't be able to warranty the work because the dude said its only a temporary fix and it could cause problems down the road...so basically I can get a remanufactured head for another 700, not including a 200 dollar core credit. If I go that route then they can warranty the repair.

Thoughts? I'd rather they use RTV gasketmaker for that divot but since they won't warranty the repair it opens up a possibility of a poor installation job.
