Its always good to tell them you've engaged valet mode. That's where if you car comes back with any damage, you're going to beat them into a senseless pulp.

I didn't read all the posts but I would never have my car transported. I personally know a guy who transports for a living (not a friend of mine, but I know him semi personally). Let's just say check for melted rubber in your wheel wells when you get your car back. Oh and that's probably the least of the beating it can/will get. I mean it probably will vary between companies, but the guy I know takes the things out for joy rides all the time. The *** cold started a 390 Torino revved it to 5k and let the clutch fly and did a 1-2 100+ foot burnout/brake stand. He gets out and goes it will get worse than that don't worry.

I never trust anyone with my cars ever. I took one of my cars to a tint shop one time, yes just to have windows tinted no reason for a test drive. The guy took my car out for a joyride and totaled my car... (3-4k worth of damage, car was older but still in very nice shape and was my baby at the time) and when I went to pick it up he claimed all the damage was already there. BTW my exhaust was torn clean off, it was running open manifolds and he tried hacking it back together but obviously failed.

I hear ya and I worry too. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of taking a leasurely roadtrip from Texas to Utah. I have to settle on a house and I had to be here to start my job right away.

This will be my 3rd time shipping a vehicle (the first 2 were fine) and I've never been worried until now. No one would want to joyride in the 1st 2 vehicles. This one has me worried. It's due here on the 9th so we'll see how it shows up.

Thanks for the info.....I'll keep in touch.

I'm happy to report that Stang made it here in perfect condition. Mileage read .8 over what it was when I turned it over. I was scared even more when I read what happened to the retired colonel and his car when he shipped it. The guy dropping it off said that only 3 people are allowed to touch a car, the guy loading it on the Jerry Dan, the guy putting it on the carrier and the guy offloading and delivering it to me. This company checks the mileage and if there's over 2 miles put on the car, they come after the handlers. Obviously there are good companies and bad.
