Default T-45 Fill Plug Stuck?

So I ventured forward and drained my fluid today, however when I went to back the fill plug out as it was draining it stopped halfway(?) out and is stuck that way. I've put liquid wrench on it, 3 in 1 on it, took a pair of vice grips to it, won't budge. The bad part of it is its a T-50 torx, and it's a pan head. So I can get no leverage on it at all. My thinking is I'm going to have to drop the trans just to get this bolt out just so I can retap it and then replace it with something proper. If the bolt is halfway out can I expect any problems? What do you guys think? I got tired of messing with it after two hours and pulled the shifter and filled it btw.

I have a bad feeling what you are wrenching on is NOT the fill plug. the fill plug is a just like the drain plug 3/8 socket wrench with no socket on it. You may have loosened up something internal on the trans. I have never had a T-45 apart so I cant tell you what but you need to figure out what you are wrenching on

It was on the opposite site of the drain at the very top of the transmission. (Drivers side)

OMG I'm so effing stupid! Gotta figure out how to get this thing back in! I tried to do it from the bottom because I was afraid to pull the shifter and ended up doing it that way anyway.

The drain and fill plugs should be on the same side and not that far apart.

Mine doesnt even look like the on in the photo 99GTvert, my drain plug was further back on towards the extension. Now running about trying to find out what this bolt is for, just above the reverse light sensor.

Ok, so heres an update on my findings. The bolt I was wrenching on happened to be the support for 5th, and Reverse rail internally. So after dropping the trans, and putting humpty dumpty back to together again with my 77 yr old neighbor. She's back up and running again, I don't make mistakes very often, but I guess when I do it's expensive! I almost threw in the towel and considered just buying a reman, but shipping is a b&*@h! Especially when using a resdential address with the bigger shipping companies. 95.00+89.00 residential charge one way! So 368.00 just for shipping! Insane! Thanks for your assistance those that tried to guide me in the right direction.

I'm glad you did the right thing and took the trans out and made sure everything was alright. Most guys would have just said oh well and drove it till it broke worse
