Will a 4.6 from a truck work in my 98 gt?
Getting worried about my miles (175,000) and found a truck with low miles thats being parted out I believe its a 2001-02 4.6. Will this work in my 98 GT? I will be using all my electronics and such.
Is it possible without alot of BS?
thanks

if there is nothing wrong with your motor don't worry about it. remember the 4.6 is in Taxi's that see way over 300K and alot of that is after it sees Police car abuse.
and as far as that truck motor there would be B.S. to deal with.
I don't know when the F150 got the PI heads but because your car in NPI and I assume the F150 is PI your intake will not swap over and you do not want to run that stupid tall *** truck intake on your Mustang

Well the car and truck are both automatic.
I really wasn't sure if this would be an easy task. My car as of right now runs
fine but I've only had it for 2 months. Not really knowing how its been treated I was hoping to put a motor back to save for hard times, while they can still be found with decent miles. I figured finding one from a truck or van or just a vehicle thats not been mistreated would be better to put back. I did however find a 2004 Mustang being parted with barely over 30,000 miles I was considering that motor .$900 sounded fair on that

op, if they are both autos, then they both have the 6 bolt crank. your intake will bolt on but wont flow as well as the 99-04 pi intake. this is a dirrect swap but like others said, dont fix it if it aint broke. but its your call

Yeah you guys are right I shouldn't worry too much about it If I did buy another motor and sit it to the side I may never use it. I've been adding coolant from time to time and was thinking maybe a head gasket but noticed under several places on my intake are leaking a little. It has me worried a little but still runs fine.

intake is prolly cracked a little bit, theres a TSB about the plastic intakes, can always swap over to a PI intake, just have to get a new set of (PI) gaskets and drill and tap for the 2nd ECT sensor
FWIW, heres what my cylinders looked like after 109,000 HARD miles:
