Default JTB's Build Thread:

Well boys, Here goes nothing. I got a cobra crank of corral today, should ship in the next day or so. I've also collected a few other odds and ends I'm going to be needing. Just wanted to get a build thread open, it'll be a while before its complete, but wanted to get one open and started.

I got the crank for $330 shipped, fresh from the machine shop. If I waited long enough, I may have found one cheaper, but this one was fresh from the machine shop, and has all the paperwork as well.

The plans look like this:
Vortech S trim
CX racing intercooler
Tial 50mm BOV
47lb injectors
GT supercar pump

Forged bottom end: Cobra Crank(corral) Manley Rods and Piston Kit (MMR) about 9.5:1 CR
Stock heads, cleaned up, lightly ported just to clean them up a bit.
CMS stage 2.5 Blower cams W/ Manley Nextek Springs.
Long tubes

Shooting for around 475 RWHP.
If my auto craps out, I'll be doing a 5 speed swap. I want to get the motor together and break it in without the blower to help break this up into stages a bit.

Awesome man! Glad to see you are getting things started. I am going to keep watching this to see how the bottom end comes out. Hope I get a ride when it is all said and done.

Scott, You can drive it. After just handing me the keys to yours, its the least I can do. Especially with all the questions I ask you. Hopefully it all turns out well. It's going to be a build like I said. I'll get pics up of the parts as I get them.

Alright guys, my plans have changed. No more vortech. I will be doing a nitrous build, I think it will be just as fun, and just decided to go this route instead. I'm working on pulling the motor today, and tearing it down, and getting everything going. (machine shop etc). I have an NX plate kit, LT's. going to forge the bottom end(11:1) using the same parts listed for initial build plans. MHS stage 2 nitrous cams instead of the CMS. and We'll see what we get. I will be taking pictures along the way as well! and the build is officially started so keep an eye out for updates and things!

Sounds good.. With the nitrous you're sure to hit 450 +. GL!

Sounds like its gonna be a good build!!

Any specific reason why you changed your mind from blower to nitrous?
