Default 100k mile maintainence

I have a 01 gt and would like to do a tube up on it. I'm torn on which brand of accel or MSD ignition coil on plugs to get. Any suggestions? I'm going with Ngk plugs.

Also any other things I should check out? Like tranny flush or rear end flush?

I'm sitting at 97k miles. Thanks guys!!!

They are going to tell you motorcraft are the best to get, or at least that's all you'll really need, but they are expensive.

I'd say you should do a transmission and differential fluid change. I've done both of those on my manual 2003 GT. pretty straight forward and easy. Also have you flushed the brake fluid?

I just recently did the brakes and new fluid. Flushed it about a month ago. I'm not looking to get all race stuff. I saw that summit had the coils for $199, those are the cheapest I can find.

I mean, do I really need to change them? I know I need to do the plugs.

Personally I wouldn't worry as much about the COPs as I would the spark plugs, you're definitely at the milage for new plugs. My mustang is at 80,000 miles and one if my COPs retaining screw has broken off. I bought a full set of 8 off eBay used (supposedly 30,000 miles) for only $53. My plan is to replace them one by one with my back ups if they go bad. When i first got the car I replaced the plugs and properly gapped them, it definitely made the engine run more smoothly, so I can't say what a bad or worn out COP feels like.

My problem is also money. If you've got the money go ahead, because preventive maintence can save you a lot.

As far as the different brands of COPs go, there's not much performance that can be gained from replacing a good motorcraft one. At least this is all from what I've discovered from looking into replacing mine.

Try rock auto. They are by far the cheapest for OEM. Don't fall for the hype a lot of these aftermarket manufacturers claim.

Coils can last forever, it's the boots that usually fail or if you get them wet. I just did my plugs (Motorcraft plat.) and replaced the boots (3.25/EA) car runs likes champ.

I'm not looking at them for performance, I had my cops tested and 2 of them are not putting out what they should. I want the accel because they are $260 cheaper than oem. Will it hurt to get aftermarket?

I've heard rumors about bad outcomes, and I've heard success stories as well. I'm not going to discredit them.

Check out RockAuto.com, it's your best and cheapest outlet for OEM replacement. Or just shop local for parts, AZ, O'Reilly have stuff readily on hand.
