Default Finally found traction today!!!

I've been fighting traction issues for the past couple years, the tires were breaking loose passed the 60' mark and spinning all the way to 1/8. I gradually upgraded nearly every front and rear suspension component to no avail. I also tried different slicks (26" Hoosiers and 27" M&H, 28" ET drags on a 15x8.5 rim), to no avail. Best 60' was a 1.48, best ET 10.6 @ 136. More typically, I was running 10.80-11.0 with 1.5-1.55 60'. 1/8 mph was allover the place, from 96 mph to 102 mph. Crazy stuff.

So I finally tried a bigger wheel/tire combo: fresh 28" ET drags on 15x10 rims. The results speak for themselves:

I think all of the suspension upgrades were not a waste. I just needed to put the power to the ground to make them work. It seems to like the wider rim and bigger tire were the key. The biggest gains were in the first 1/8. Car went straight as an arrow and it felt like an eternity between shifts because the tires weren't spinning. I'm a happy camper.

Congrats Tony. My car also picked up the whole run when I switched to 28's. I wonder how much I could pick up if I switched from my QTP's to a real slick.

I wish I had a video, but I didn't bring anyone with me to shoot one. There's no room in the car after I load the slicks, jack, tools, etc.
