Hey guys just dropping down in a couple forums to get some advise on a 2002 GT im about to buy. In my standing i believe its a deal to jump on. Heres the link...

Quick description if link does not work. 2002 GT black, fully loaded with mach stereo leather everything. Has 29000 on the clock. Second owner car, was related to previous owner. Car has never seen rain or a wash bay. Only things that have been done are k&n intake and flowmaster exhaust.

I have checked out the car, drove it. My first impression was wow. Super clean car obviously well taken care of. Found 3 flaws. Thats it. For the price of 10900 im ok with it. We did have a service engine light on, thinking cause of the intake? Opinions? Also the steering wheel was off center. My brother said his is to (99 GT w/23k) not a big deal. Do have a ford mechanic in the household. Thoughts? Things i need to look out for? Thanks guys!

There are great buys out there. From what you describe, I'd jump on it. However, listen to the engine, transmission, and axles for rumbles, whines, ticks, clicks, and knocks.

What color was the oil on the dipstick... black? brown? honey gold? Is there a Carfax or maintenance record?

I got an '04 GT last year with 47,000 miles and several mods for $11,000. It was clean and well maintained.

Why is the steering wheel off center? Alignment?

Why would a car with 29,000 need an alignment? Curb or crash.

If the car has no accident damage, the wheel wasn't off center from the factory, so that means somebody took it off and put in on incorrectly? What repair required removal of the steering wheel?

A K&N filter or intake will not trigger and engine check light. Have your Ford mechanic check the error codes via the OBDII port.

I'd also want paperwork on the cars service history. With only 29,000 miles but 11 years, has the brake fluid, ATF/transmission oil, coolant etc. ever been changed?

The low mileage doesn't change the fact it's eleven years old.

the streering wheel looks way WAY off center. Look at how the wheels are cut and then the direction of the steering wheel.

for $10K you can find a 2005 GT...

For real! The steering wheel is cut WAYYYY left and the wheels are a good 30 degrees right. Unless the car was moved during the shoot, that is absurd. Seems like he'd have fixed that before trying to sell it if it is fixable for less than a fortune. Get a car fax and an estimate on that steering wheel fix.
Edit: Just looked again. You can see from the visible steering wheel spoke in the front right view that it wasnt moved. I'd pass on it for anything over 6,500. unless that is fixed and a clean car fax.

For crying out loud, it's not a steering wheel fix. It's fixing whatever is bent, broken, crashed and not fixed correctly at the other end of the steering column.

NADA says retail 9500.00. So for one he's asking too much, what else is he hiding?
At the most it's 100.00 for an alignment, I would tread carefully.
