Default MAC Catback Feedback?

Plan on purchasing a cat back and I was thinking of going Mac since its one of the cheaper ones and I heard it sounds better compared to flows american thunder. To anyone who's running with it, how does it sound? Turn heads? Ease of install? Worth it over flows? I'm running an MRT catted h pipe. Thanks for the input to everyone who posts. Also is it worth it for 30 extra dollars to go for 3.5 in tips vs 3 in tips?

Well first off, I'll give you the standard look it up on youtube line. I listen to hours of exhaust on there before I pick one, and listen to multiple because some cameras suck at loud sound.

Now, I'm planning exhaust for my car right now, and I keep finding myself come back to the exhaust I put on my 97 GT. O/R Prochamber and Mac catback. After listening to enough videos, I can't tell a huge difference in exhaust sound between a 97 and an 06, it's at least similar enough that I still think that sounds the best. My Cobra also had Mac catbacks, though with an O/R X pipe.

Obviously to me they sound very good. Deep and throaty with little rasp, though that also depends on your mid pipe. They certainly turn heads, but with my O/R Prochamber and especially with my O/R X, I think they turned heads more out of fear. Both the midpipe and catback were both relatively easy installs on the 97 in that everything fit as it should. I didn't install the catback in my Cobra, but it's all close enough to the same that I see no reason to doubt the quality. They are ABSOLUTELY worth it over Flowmasters. They sound very similar in a way, but to me the Macs sound far better still, but I can't exactly say where. If for no other reason than EVERYONE gets Flowmasters, I'd say they are worth it. I believe they are cheaper than Flowmasters too, so it's more a question of it Flowmasters are worth it over Mac. As for the tips, all personal preference. Look for some pictures of both, got hold a ruler to the car, see what you like more.

Edit: Hehe, I thought I was in the S197 section at first. Only a few edits to my post though and it all still applies.

I love MAC catbacks.... fit nice and snug against the underside of the car, and easy to install because the tail pipes are separate from the rest of the muffler. I'd recommend them.. Also, go with the 3.5" tips, the 3"s look a little small thru the bumper holes on the 99+ cars

In reply to watching YouTube videos, believe me I've looked and looked and everything i find is with o/r mids. My mid is catted so I don't get the same feeling when I'm watching a video with an o/r with mac.

Thanks for the input so far.

True, it's a little harder to find videos with a catted mid pipe.

I found this one, but it's not the best audio quality. Still gives an idea of the tone if not how loud it is.

I found at least 3 more with a catted H and mac catback, but they have LTs which would sound a little different.

Can't answer your other question, but I would ABSOLUTELY pay a little more for the 3.5" tips vs the smaller 3" tips. They look much better to me.

MAC Catbacks are hands down the best exhaust dollar for dollar. Very nice smooth muscle sound(depending on the mid pipe). It is absolutely worth the extra money for the 3.5" tips and its also worth getting the stainless steel set if you can afford it.

I have MAC Catbacks + O/R H and I could not be more pleased with my exhaust. The only setups I hear that I like as much or more are top dollar borla/kook/ARH setups and even those setups usually create more rasp than I like. If you are a big fan of rasp I would not go with MAC exhaust products.
