Default Saleen Wheel Options and Opinions...

Looking for some input on what you guys think. My '98 black/black convertible is getting a make over next month (stripping it down and reshooting it black). I want to put new wheels on it too and I've always been a fan of chrome Saleen style wheels. Here is where my dilemma comes into play, and I need some input.

I can't decide between the 17" and 18". Although the 18's may be a nicer wheel, my fear is that it will make my car look like a 4X4 even worse than it already does with the stock ride height. I also like that the 17's come in 10.5 for the rear where as the 18's are only 10 in the rear. But will the 17's look too small? Is a half inch that much of a difference for the width of the rear wheel? Does anyone have a picture of a black mustang on 17 or 18 Saleens with stock ride height? I'm leaning towards the 17's, I just want to make sure I'm not making a mistake and regret a $1000 purchase (tires are also cheaper for 17's).

And I don't think I want to drop the car, not as of right now anyway. I will have too much money wrapped up in this project... Maybe next year that will be an option...

I would say a set of 17's in a nice drop should get you where you wanna be. Any pics of your car?

This is not my car but almost identical to it. But like I said, I don't want to drop the car right now due to the amount of money I will already be putting into it with a new paint job and wheels.

What's up with that paint scheme?? ^^^^^^

17's and a drop will do, but 18's and a drop are nicer! I rock 17's and I don't mind em but saleens need to be 18 otherwise they don't look right.

I have 18's on my car with a drop and it looks good.I wouldn't worry about the .5" difference on the rear wheels.

17"s are nice with a drop , but tend to look small now days with all new cars having 18,19 and 20" wheels. My wife has a GTO with vette wheels that are 17 in front and 18 in the rear and the rears look so much nicer than the fronts. Only down fall is that 18'' tires are a little to a lot more than 17"s. If you are on the fence I would just get 18s they look fine. Good luck

I think the 18's would be nice, the chrome on the black will look sweet! Post some pics when you do upgrade

For the love of God do not get 17inch saleens.
