Default need help with my build!

I just recently fell on a sweet deal for a all forged 04 cobra short block my buddy has had it sitting in his shop for about 4 years on the engine stand covered(never ran). I only paid $500.00 for it and was looking at trying to do a f1a procharger or possible turbo build with it. Problem is the only modular motors ive ever messed with were my 06gt and my 11gt i had and i never did cams or heads on them only bolt on stuff. i have a budget of 14k for this project my goals are to have a street strip car putting down around 550-600rwhp. The car its going into is a 02 mustang gt with a manual transmission(3650). the car already has a built 8.8, exedy stage 4 clutch, coilovers front and rear, tubuar k-member.

questions

1. which heads would be the best for my build? And were can i find them for a good price? (the pistons are 18cc)

2. what kind of fuel system do you recommend? and where to get it?

3. what's a good intake manifold? I know the procharger comes with a cover that goes over the existing 03/04 lower intake manifold but i was more or less asking for a turbo setup.

The older style N/A 4V heads actually respond really well to boost but most people will tell you the ford "C" heads are the way to go because they were updated to fix a cooling system issue that created hotspots. Or you can get some trick flow 2V heads.

Get some good aftermarket fuel rails and convert to a return style system with some 80lb injectors.

If you go 4V I would try finding an older N/A cobra intake manifold. Take out the IMRC and do some port work and they work great for boost. If you go 2V the edelbrock vic JR intake also works really well with boost.

With a turbo you can probably get away with smaller injectors, however when it comes to fuel more is better. You can always adjust the pressure or turn down the injectors in the tune. Nothing worse than seeing a car go to make its first dyno pull only to realize your fuel system is maxed out.

I was doing some research while I was at work and it sounds like its a total PIA as far as getting a computer and wiring harness for a 4v set up. What about a set of ported 3v heads??

Only reason I ask is because I found a 2v-3v swap kit online by logan motorsports.

There's a few 2v-4v swap kits out there. For some reason they're slipping my mind right now...

Anyways, I would definitely shoot for 4v heads. With an already forged Termi block, I'd set yourself up for more potential down the road. A set of non-ported 4v heads can take you all the way to 800rwhp with the right fuel and FI. Who knows, you might want that power a year from now.

Good luck with your build!
