Default 99-04 GT VS 05-07 GT

Stock for Stock, is there REALLY that big of a difference in acceleration/handling when comparing the 05-07 GT and the 99-04 ?

I am a future owner and am considering one of these two. Trying to see if I can justify spending the extra on the 05-07 GT or if the 99-04 is pretty damn close in terms of performance, then it might be the better bet and then I have more money to spend on modifications.

They are entirely different cars.
Lets start with these two very big things to take in consideration....
1 - What is your budget
2 - What are you looking to use the car for? i.e - drag racing, corners...etc - what are the goals for the car?

Answer those and we can help.

PurpleIcedGT - I'm looking to keep it in the $10,000-$12,000 range.

I don't plan on going to the track. I just want a fun to drive car that I can use as a daily driver. Not looking to break into 10's or anything.

Agreed, but the SN95s are fun as hell to drive.

Budget wise that dude should get an SN95. You don't see many on the road anymore (Becoming a rarity) and they look damn good.

TBH it is my favorite body style.

If I were you -
I would go 4v. 01 cobra or a 03/04 Mach.
4.10's/tune/tires/some suspension & exhaust work and youll have a beautiful car that is quick as hell and even more fun to drive.

Love the 01 Cobra's and the 03-04 Mach 1's.
They are few and far between around here (Ontario Canada) and when they do pop up they are way out of my price range.

Go take a drive in both. They are completely different animals, both with their own endearing (and less endearing) qualities.

The 05 up are way better all around cars size, power , handling. I had a 2005 GT that I loved. Traded that for an 04' to save money and could not believe the difference. My 2004 just felt sloppy in stock form. It's nothing money wont fix. Just my 2 cents. If you buy a new edge buy either a mach or cobra. Unless you have money to spend our little 2vs will never be high horse power cars.

I would have to agree Gary. If the guy's lookong to spend 10-12 grand he can get a really nice New Edge GT. 10-12 grand for a S197 would more than likely be a high miler with cosmetic issues. I agree tho. The 05 and above mustangs are superior..
