Default Why do you own an SN95?

I'm curious why most of the readers in this forum drive an SN95 rather than the newer S197s. Is it for the affordable cost? Is it for the looks?

Me- I'm the original owner of 2001 gt and I bought at time in my life when I could (no kids, no debt, young, etc). With a family now, I'm just not at a point where I can dump 30-40 g's in a newer mustang. I also don't care for the heavy s197s and their ugly rear ends.

When going to car shows and events, I sometimes feel we are an inferior species, but then I think I'm cranking out 400 rwhp on my little two valve and get a big grin.

Bought mine years ago when the 05-09s were out. Never been a fan of that body style. I always liked the 60s mustangs as well but never cared for the fox bodies. I really like the 2013-2014 body style and it is the first Mustang since the new edge that I have enjoyed enough to consider buying. As is, I plan on keeping my new edge because of the styling of it. Plus it's paid for and has plenty of power. A clean new edge I believe will be a classic years from now. I still plan on buying a 2015 though :-)

Wife liked it....

Had a used '00 GT vert auto, new '07 GT vert auto, and now an '11 GT/CS manual....wife just decided she liked the look of this '02 GT vert plus she likes an auto better for her use. Said since I had the '00 Lightning, she deserved the vert...so we brought it home.

I got mine in 2006...it was cheaper, looked very good and I thought it looked better than the older SN95s. I could not afford a brand new mustang. It's not that fast but I like tooling around town with it, especially with the addition of the 4.10s.

If it were today I might have ended up with an older S197...or perhaps a lightly used 3.7 sixxer...they don't look as good but they have better interiors and creature comforts and sh*t.

I have had two. I bought them b/c I wanted them. Love the lines, ease of modification, cost, etc....
Never really liked the S197 until the newest version came out. I think the rear end looks like a saggy diaper until they got the new tail lights. The more aggressive front grille looks much better, too.

Wife had one of the worst cars on the street, a dodge caliber, we traded for the 01 GT to have something with a little more power and fun to drive before we had kids, not to mention the trans on a 60K 2007 dodge was about to give up.

I wanted to buy a new Mustang GT, but when we test drove one, my wife hated everything about the car. I went home, re-calibrated, looked for other cars on the internet, and ran across an 04 Mystichrome Cobra. Went to test drive it, and my wife liked it - sold!

I like the purchase price, the price for mods, and how easy they are to work on. For me i like the lines and I don't see alot of the 94-98 body style around.

There are lots of excellent Mustangs in the world. I 0wn a '99 and '03 and also co-own a '72 Mach I and have a 2005 as well. Look at them all on their own merits and they all stand up well. Which is better? That's up to you. I'm glad I don't have to decide.
