Default 500rwhp, how to? FI, engine swap, combination of both?

Had to sell my 11GT to get a more family friendly sedan. Now I'm trying to find a far less expensive car that'll be faster than my 11 which ran low 12's.

My hope is to find a running or non-running NE for $5k or less. I'd do a mild/built 4R70w and the appropriate suspension mods. If I could keep it under $12k wheeling and dealing, I'd be set.

So what I need to know is what people are doing to make power out of their NE's. I've read some about 4v swaps, but still don't know a lot. I doubt I could afford a built block from a engine building company.

The easy way to get there would be a supercharger. 500rwhp is not likely to be cheap, but will run a faster than your 11 ran. Should run with a iron or teksid aluminum block, and decent quality rods.

Do the supercharger build for 1500 bucks, beef up the suspension and run a good tire.. 11's for sure..

The starting point is a solid goal. You don't need 500 hp to run faster than a 12 second S197. SC the stock motor, some suspension work and you'll be there.

Car has 144k miles though but just bought a new clutch. What should I do? Supercharge the engine as it is now, rebuild this current engine, or buy a new engine and work from there. Feedback would be great. Thanks

The OP is asking about a New Edge:
