Default Stock suspension kinda sucks

I just did the first track day in my 2000 GT and wow. Stock, original suspension is terrible. The car was a handfull! And slow.
I'm no rookie and am pretty familiar with Sonoma Raceway, and I was white knuckling and driving it at it's limit most of the time but I was still getting passed by everything out there, including Miatas and even a Honda Accord!
It has brand new performance tires, so grip was decent. But trailbrake into a corner and it was super loose on exit. Brake early, feather gas to the apex and accelerate on track out and it would plow. Try to just maintain steady throttle through the turn then point and shoot was about the only option.
Slower corners were ok, but I now I know why they call them knuckle draggers. I felt like I could touch the ground if I stuck my hand out the window. High speed corners were nuts. It was leaning so much that it honestly felt like if I were to push too hard, it would just roll over.
2 laps in and the brakes were so hot I almost went into a tire wall. Nothing more scary than doing about 100 toward a 2nd gear corner, braking hard and if feels like stepping on a rotten plum.
I'm now debating if it's worth the effort and money to make it handle decent. Springs, shocks, struts, camber plates, subframe connectors, swaybars, panhard bar, control arms, bushings, etc equals alot of money.
I think I'll just keep it as a cruiser.

Springs, shocks, struts, camber plates, subframe connectors, brake pads, ss braided brake lines and a little fine tuning would be a big jump.

It all depends on what you want to do, but tire & suspension upgrades are relatively cheap and easy considering the improvement they make! Of course, I recommend UPR Products suspension.

Ya, I guess I don't have to do it all at once. I'll stick some stiffer springs on and get the center of gravity down some and see what the difference is. That won't cost alot to try.
Here's video of a session, you can see my frustration. But, it's still a fun car, just a little scary.

Agreed, have to change springs to start. See what you think and start adding $$$ after that lol.
