launch questions 4.10 gears/light mods
hey guys im new to this forum i was just wondering what your opinions were about launching with a stick gt with 4.10 gears bbk headers, trick flow upper intake plenum trick flow throttle body, bbk headers.
Just curious if its bad for the engine/tranny to dump it gently once in a while or should i not be doing this as much as i do... i dont launch everytime i drive maybe 2 or 3 times a week mildly.....
whenever i do launch my baby i just rev it up to 1500-2000 then drop it and try not to spin as much as possible... I was just trying to learn how to get it without spinning that much... but im getting nervous it might be really bad for the engine... i only have 70k miles and i plan on getting a procharger in a year or so and i dont need any setbacks....
im getting a dyno tune tuesday july 8th so i kind of want to get my **** straight before i go there and make myself look stupid...
whats bad? is spinning tires alone bad? because i have to 2 sets of wheels one set i have are nitto555s there sticky and grip better but im just confused if its bad or not:i con_clapclap::icon_c lapclap:

Dumping the clutch is not so bad for the engine , but it is bad for the clutch and transmission. What is bad for an engine is extreme rpms when you are spinning the tires. If your rapping the tach into the red a lot you can anticipate problems later on.
Dumping the clutch puts a lot of force on the gears in the trans and also makes the clutch slip and will burn up quicker.

so even if im at a stop light or stop sign and im just in first gear going slow like barely moving then go up to 4 k rpms start to spin then quickly shift up to third its not that bad... just bad for the clutch? im just making sure i understand 100% .... im still a rookie but i have learned alot in the past 2 years....
i have never touched the red line ever in my car.
with my 4 10 gears all i have to do is go to 3k rpms in 1st gear and shift to second... and i squeels all the way to third... but thats not why i do this i do this for the occasion that i will "pretend" to race and just try and launch without spinning thats my goal threw all this is to shift to 4th without spinning but get in that perfect zone where my rpms are up above 2500 and theres no backlash its just a perfect launch
