Default Top rwhp for the 4.6?

I'll be starting engine and performance mods on my '02 GT this autumn. First thing out the gate will be a new exhaust from the headers back, followed shortly thereafter by updating the intake (CAI, intake throttle/plenum). Just some basic stuff.

As I look at this motor, though, it seems like there is an upper boundary for what it can really do without replacing the motor. What's the top end for your build-out?

400-420 is about the limit, people say 450 alot but to put thing in perspective CobraFrenzy jumped from 420rwhp to 450rwhp and it lasted for about 6 track passes then blew up doing a street burnout. Car had a tip top dyno tune as well.

Yikes. I just want to be around 400 to the wheels. I'm at 384 right now.

If it did, I'd blame the tuner. ..but then again, I usually blame the tuner for everything.

How many miles are on your car? I wouldn't go no higher than 425 to the wheels.

With a good tune and a properly matched setup, I'd say stick to 400 at the wheels max. Easiest and most pain-free way to get there would be to just throw a blower on it and call it a day. At 8lbs you'll be around 350 - 400 with great driveability.

You can also find a used centrigual setup for a pretty fair price.
