Hey, I have a 2001 gt 5 speed this really bad clunk coming from what seems to be right under the shifter (transmission) it feels like there is some sort of play in the trans, for an example: if your cursing in 5th at any speed and you quick tap the gas 1/4 throttle and let off its clinks and shakes back and forth, I have checked my cross member and motor mounts and theye all seems fine anybody have any clue what this is it seems really bad.

without actually hearing or feeling it, i'd almost want to say its "normal"

check u-joints in the driveshaft, and maybe try to toss some grease on the slip yolk...but just about every 4.6 car I've driven (tons) has had some sort of drivetrain clunk. Nature of the beast once they get miles on them

I think you are in need of new u-joints.

are you 100% sure the trans mount isnt broke.
