Speeding ticket what should i do?
Hey MFers i figured you guys probably know more about this than me. I recently got pulled over for the first time and i was going pretty fast (no people around didn't endanger anyone). He asked me how fast I thought I was going. I've never been pulled over before so I said idk maybe 80 (looking back that was stupid). He reduced it from 80 to 70 and said if i show up in court he's saying he clocked me at 80. Should i go to court and try to get a reduction, driving school, just hope he's absent, or should I just pay it and move on. Also in North Carolina would a ticket for 70 in a 55 affect the insurance of a person with no other tickets?

Gambling on him not showing up to court is risky. Most departments are very strict on their officers showing up to their court dates. Call the court magistrate or clerk and ask if they offer any type of driving school to get the ticket voided. I got a speeding ticket for 10 over a few years ago, and the magistrate offered me the opportunity to take a four hour driver's safety course to have the ticket nullified.

Just because there was no one around doesn't mean you didn't endanger anyone. You endangered yourself.
I've been to court in the past for tickets I've gotten and every single one of them was reduced. Never got a conviction for anything. Usually you can take a plea bargain which will admit your guilt, but reduce the sentence and most likely get you supervision and or driving school and some type of fine.
Your call though. Consult a lawyer if you're indecisive.

Thanks guys. I'll do as you said and call the court magistrate. First Ill try to get it dropped at the da office since my dad knows a few people. I doubt it'll happen but its worth a try. Just worried about trying to go to court and him saying how fast I was actually going.

Just go to the court clerks office and ask for a deferred sentence. You will pay a fine, probably have six months probation, maybe driving school. But once all that is complete, the ticket is gone forever.
I assume that NC does this, it seems pretty standard.

I think if driving school and getting it dropped doesn't fall through ill just ask an attorney. Anyone know of a real life Saul Goodman that can make things go away in NC? hahah.

I guess tomorrow it's time to tell the parents and possibly get an attorney. Welp not paying for my insurance was fun while it lasted. lol. At least its 70 in a 55 and not 120. Just got my boost too..
Thanks guys. Any advice on how to tell them?
