Hey whats up guys, new to the site so bare with me....

Soon to be stang owner (hopefully) never owned one but always wanted one. Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for while looking/test driving one.....Thanks

Make sure it starts.... 99-04s are great cars figure out if you want to end up with a stout car or just want a V8 . If you want a rare higher horsepower get a mach 1 or cobra of any year with the DOHC motor you'll get more out of it. If you want a Gt and just want to keep it stock and drive it that's fine too. Yeah I'm mainly in the market for a GT, checked this one out yesterday ( http://www.goodguysautohouse.com/200...x4A46AIhyNQ%3d ).... It was very clean/inside and out, gonna have my mech. check it out and test drive it because when I test drove it the shifting felt a little loose and delayed to catch the gear....idk if that just the way it is because im used to driving a 95 manual jetta or its something to check out

and if everything seems ok to him, gonna try to beat them down to $9000.....Edmunds says it should be at $8189

Wow, that thing is super clean and barely broken in! only 24K miles is almost unheard of. Not worth what they are asking, but def an $8000 car.

Thanks guys, yes it is very clean and hoping to be getting it. Just waiting on my mechanic to check it out to verify a few things that were noticed. Fingers crossed!

I would atleast get him down to 10 grand. I have an '04 with 73k miles and mine books out at like 7,500 dollars and I have 3 grand in extras. So right out of the gate you will loose money. Try to soften the blow the best you can. That car is in excellent condition though. The shifters in these cars are a little mushy as they are a 2 piece design with rubber isolators to dampen noise and vibration. Nothing an after market shifter can't fix.

I don't know what you guys are smoking but that seems like a decent price. What you're forgetting is how rare a low-mileage, unmolested 1 owner GT of that era is. I think if you can get it for around 11 that would be a steal. NADA is showing a value of 10,500. I'd go in with 10k and cite the NADA price. KBB doesn't do a good job of showing the accurate values of older low-mileage vehicles. Did you check the carfax / autocheck to make sure it is accident free?
