2002 gt needs new engine and been sitting idle for 7 months. What to do?

Maybe it wasn't the plugs, but it was whatever needed to be removed to get water out. I was definitely a moron and tried to restart it because it stalled just past the highway offramp, felt it turn halfway and then suddenly shutter to a stop.
Still try to diagnose further? I only ask because I don't have alot of time, would not know what the hell I'm doing and probably need a shop to do it. Thanks for your help.

Running a compression test is pretty quick, much faster than replacing the engine. You could prob borrow a compression gauge from Autozone and test one or two cylinders...any that you can reach easily. If they are OK, move on and check the rest. Should take about an hour. You will need a compression gauge, a buddy or a remote start switch. If you get the screw in gauge you can do it by yourself.
I would not pull the engine based on one mechanic. The only time I've heard of an engine hydrolocking was because it was running while it was submerged....totally under water.

Hi Falkimmm -
I have a 2002 Mustang that is in good condition, except on Jan 19th (my bday) I collided into the back of a Dodge Ram Truck when merging onto a highway. Mechanic just looked at it and put new battery in it because after I drove it home, it wouldn't start.
Good news is it's driveable and now it needs a driver's headlight and new headlight brace that were broke in light collision. I've been the sole owner since it was brand new. Regular maintenance done on it; no problems. I'm looking to get rid of it now, bc I don't really need a car anymore since I live near public transportation and don't want to put anymore money in it. Would you be interested in buying it to help your GT?
