I have a 2004 4.6 5-Speed Manual and my reverse gear is clunky.
Putting my car into reverse requires somesort of sacrifical ritual. I can hear the gears grinding even with the clutch fully depressed. To get it into reverse i have to push the brake pedal as hard as I can with the clutch pedal fully depressed. Then i have let the clutch go then fully press it again. Then i am able to put it into reverse but i still hear not grinding but a loud clunk what could be causing this? thanks for any help in advanced.

At least for T45s (those were in the 99 to mid 01 GT's I think), reverse also at times wasn't easy to get into but putting the shifter into first gear and then reverse helped. Your car has the TR3650. Give that a shot next time it happens.
The cars are clunky sometimes when it comes to the powertrain.
Why are you pushing in the brake pedal?

Are you possibly not on a level surface meaning your car would roll (even if just a little bit) if you didn't hit the brake pedal? Because other than that, I don't know what else the brakes would do for you other than keeping the car still when putting the shifter into a gear.

If im on a flat surface the brake pedal is more for placebo but on a unlevel surface yes pushing the brake pedal makes the noise less violent and thank you for the advice im gonna try it tomorrow after im off duty and update on how it goes.
