Default 2004 Mustang GT.. Does this look right?

Hi Guys,

Just picked up a 2004 Mustang GT.

It has a CAI, Trick flow intake, Crower Stage 2 cam, Pulley, X-pipe with cats and a Flowmaster Cat back. Also 4.10 gears.

It has a Diablo tune also.

The previous owner was able to get 13.7-13.8's out of it a 98.5mph....

Is something off here? Has stock headers... the tune might not be up to snuff, but I was expecting a low 13 second car... at 105-108 with the mods.

Any input?

That sounds about right. The only real performance mods you have are the cams and gears. I had 410's, and comp cams and could only manage a 14.03 out of her. Not saying it's impossible but you're gonna have to be a helluva driver to get a bolt on new edge in the low 13 range...

Hmm. What if I throw heads, cat deletes and a dyno tune at it?

How much hp should my set up be making? 270rwhp?

What kinda tires? How about suspension? Street tires suck sweaty ***** at the track, and stock suspension components suck even sweatier *****. IMO, driven properly, with a little suspension, DR's and under good track conditions the car should be capable of mid or maybe even low 13's.

Used to know a guy with a Bullitt that put down a hair over 250 rwhp that was consistently in mid/high 12's (had a best of 12.5) but keep in mind though this was with 4.30's, aggressive weight reduction, purpose built suspension and of course slicks.

Sounds like a case of the no driver mod. a GT is a high 13 low 14 car out of the box. with gears you should be able to post those times alone. That should be bare minimum a mid to low 13 sec car. The trap speed alone suggests some tom foolery IMO.

Were these times ran at a track that has a high elevation? Were temperatures warm? Higher elevation and warmer temperatures are going to mean slower times than what would be the 'norm' on the internets.

If I remember correctly, he spent most of his time running in Bowlingreen Ky. Its about 550 ft above sea level. As for temps, it could 110 heat index one week and 75 the next. Kentucky weather is bat**** crazy.
My main point is, he's 1.5 seconds off a very good 2v with cams time. I don't think he would be able to beat those times with car as is, but a low 13 second 1/4 with good suspension is very attainable.
