Default Stock to not!

Hey ive been really wanting to do some things to my mustang lately but i havent the slightest clue where to start. right now im looking at a 2k budget so clearly that leaves out SC and TC, from talking around with friends they are saying to do a few things like 3.73 gears for a better launch as well as new long pipe headers, and maybe even a new cam. I also need to get a new clutch sooner or later. honestly i dont know right now. im just looking for a few people who might have suggestions on how to speed up my 1/4 mile times at least 1 sec right now im running high 13s low 14s i want this car to eventually have about 500hp +/-50ish and running high 12s. any suggestions on brand, sizings, and any other parts that might help please let me know! thanks guys!

Do you have a New Edge (99-04) or a S197 (05-14)? Also any mustang with 500 HP running high 12s needs a driver mod ASAP!

I wouldn't do cam unless you spent all that money on doing full head work, do to most the cost is removing the heads. also for heads you would generally want upgraded intake and exhaust before hand. So with 2k I would do the 3.73, exhaust setup, and intake maybe go with a edelbrock intake manifold get a bracket to fit the stock style Throttle body save $400 MMR sells them. also some nice springs to help your launch. *except the 3.73 the point of all those is you can install them yourself to spend more on parts! also I forget it needs to be said a Tuner or a shop to tune it for you.

Don't think you will make 500 hp with that motor w/o turbo or supercharger.

Definitely go with 3:73 rear and some exhaust work.
