Default $15k new purchase???

so here is the deal. I will have the opportunity soon to spend about 15k on a new play car. Long story short, I am going to buy a play car with cash and DD a 2011 4runner. What should i get. I have seen some high mileage termi's for that price on CL. I have also thought about buying a GT and slapping a SC on it. this will be a sunny day only car as a requirement will be that it has to be convertible. Thoughts comments would be appreciated!

How many miles do you consider "high mileage"? Some people might say 70K and others might say 170K.... To some extent, condition is more important than mileage; my '01 has about 117K on the clock and is in much better shape than some cars I've seen with 80K.

Post links of cars you're potentially interested in and we'll go from there. As I'm sure you're aware there are significant overall differences between a GT and an '03+ Cobra. If you want Cobra performance it will take a lot to get a GT to that point. If you are negotiable on your convertible stipulation then for your budget you should be able to find a very nice Mach 1, which is a very good compromise between the two and gives you a much better starting point than a GT, but without having to get a used n' abused Cobra in order to fit budget limitations.

I'd look for a 99/01 Cobra and do 4.10s and exhaust/tune.

i am also very much considering buying a 2001-2002 SS camaro and doing a bunch of suspension upgrades. I like the stock power of the ls1 and its the same price as a mustang gt.

you can find a lot of good street cars with 350+hp for 10k, but I would honestly try to find a mustang 99-04 for sale with a quality turbo already on it I see them all day for 7.5-10k. then finish it off with high hp crank pistons and do the heads that would be about all the money. but then you could crank up the psi.....but I want a 900hp car =)

ebay had 2 99-04 last week for 7k with turbo in it. no you could be around 600hp with the 15k if like I said you find a pre boosted car, that's just my plans is to be a 900 hp car that's why I was talking about doing internals.
