jba shorty headers installation
#2
What year is the car? Mine is an 09 and I did it in the driveway. It's not a lot I had to slide the ac compressor over and a few other parts came out like battery tray. Without a lift I'd budget a whole Saturday though. Sounds better after and picked up a few horses.

[QUOTE=jkeaton;8547577]Stock manifolds flow pretty well then?[/QUOTE
They flow at or about the same as shortys..I installed BBK shorties (against everyone's advice) and had no gain at all and as stated above they are a (you know what) to install..

Did you at least get a little nicer exhaust note from them?
And you're right, install is a total bitch. My car was in the shop recently for a new clutch and some other crap, I have a set of equal length Pypes shorties (look to be about the same as BBK - basically resemble a handful of tangled up spaghetti noodles) that I figured we would try to put on while the car was already torn halfway apart.
I at one point actually had the right side in and attached with a few bolts, but with the engine in the car there was simply zero access to some other bolts. May have been able to get them started, but actually torquing them properly was never gonna happen. The usual "drop the k member" strategy would not have helped, as the most probematic areas were on the top facing side.
So I unfortunately had to say f*** it, it just was not justifyable to pull my engine out for that. I've heard that even with the engine out and on a stand it can still be a little challenging.

on my 3v it quieted down what I call the chopper sound which was definitely a plus. That's my biggest pet peeve about the 3v and it is noticeably different outside for a 2v I'm sure they sound even better.
