So my friend with a cobalt SS started talking to me yesterday about a grounding kit that he purchased for his car. Apparently it made a noticable difference in how the car responded... (quicker throttle response I guess)... any such thing out for our s197's and would it be worth it? Throttle reponse can be achieved in many different ways and I already love how my car pulls... I dont really know much about this grounding kit. First time hearing about it...

I throw grounding kits for performance in the same basket as snake oil and headlight fluid. I've had them on previous cars and there was no noticeable performance gain, though in most cases the stereo would stop causing the headlights to dim.
i don't know of anyone that sells them off the top of my head, but you can make them for dirt cheap with some thick gauge wire and end connectors. just run them from the negative of the battery/alternator to the chassis. past cars, I had about 8-12 mounting points on various parts of the engine/engine bay.

Well see, I would only consider going through the trouble if there was a noticable difference. I was just curious because my friend was really hyped about it. I dont know if I would do it though because the throttle response on these cars is already amazing after simple bolt ons... I just didnt get how a simple grounding kit could make such a difference.

ground kits are the type of mod that teens do to their car because a friend of a friend said it makes a big difference and they believe them. that's how i first heard about grounding kits when I was 17. once you dig into the science behind them, you realize that they will help your electrical system to a certain degree, but not much else. like i said, you can make one for dirt cheap (15-20 bucks), but it's still not worth the money or time invested.
caveat: if you have a serious stereo and notice your headlights/interior lighting dimming with bass hits, a grounding kit and performance battery would be worth it.

Uhh, yeah, not nearly as much as a CAP would be worth it..
UberHaxOr, I totally agree... because thats the situation, a friend who said it works, then my friend trying it, then telling me about it. It may have an effect on a cobalt, but the S197 is totally different obviously. Conclusion: not worth the time and effort...
