Default BBK CAI and Tune Questions

Alright, I bought a BBK CAI for my 2008 Mustang. I also bought a Diablosport tuner because a friend who has worked and tuned cars for awhile said that the diablosport and BBK work together and there should be no problems. Well come to find out that BBK has pulled their tunes from Diablosport because they are trying to make their own tuner. I first emailed BBK to see if they could possibly provide a tune and of course they said they couldnt. So I did some more searching and could not find a BBK tune for a '08 anywhere. So now I am stuck with a BBK and no tune. I really dont know where to go from here. If anybody knows where I can buy a tuner or lead me in some kind of direction that would be very helpful. The reason I went with the BBK is that it works with the stock MAF sensor so it would not void my warranty, or thats what I was told anyway because I looked into getting another intake with a tuner package and then I found that info out.

I do have another question about the BBK Cai as well. I know it works with the stock MAF sensor but does this mean that it will never give me a check engine light by making the car run lean. I read a few things saying that it needs a tune even though it works with the stock MAF because it will run lean over time. Others have said the comp will correct itself and be fine. I just dont want anything to go wrong.

If anybody can help me, or lead me in a direction that would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: BBK CAI and Tune Questions

my old man got me the BBK CAI as a christmas gift the year before last. i haven't gotten any lights since putting it on, and it did help the engine breathe better without a tune, which it advertises it can do, though i've often wondered if it would do even better with one. oddly enough, the next year he got me the diablosport tuner for the car as an unrelated gift, but accidentally got me the '07 tuner, which is incompatible with my '06. we returned it, and i since forgot to pick up the correct one. now that i'm reminded...

+1 on Brenspeed.
I have a BBK intake with a Brenspeed tune. F'ing awesome! Brenspeed uses SCT tuners. Give em a call and they'll set you straight. Check my signature for mods and the power Brenspeeds tunes can produce. http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/

You'll need to contact Bamachips if you want a mail order tune for your Diablosport Predator.

Default RE: BBK CAI and Tune Questions

I also have the BBK CAI. When I installed it, I also installed an off the shelf performance tune from SuperChips. It ran awesome. I ran that for a few weeks. Since then, I also ordered the FRPP Hot Rod Cams and the FRPP 3.73 gears. Gears are here but Iam waiting for the cams to come in. What I found was that I had to have a custom tune for the cams. SuperChips does not offera custom tune for these cams so I have removed the tune (now stock) andI am waiting to hear back from Doug at BamaChips onif he has a tune for my new setup. Hopefully that will be soon.

The dealer that I purchased the SuperChips tuner from is going to take it back and issue a credit since SuperChips can't support a custom tune as advertised. Now that I am running a stock tune on the BBK CAI, it runs fine. I do noticesome less performance but will wait on finding the right tune for when thecams get here.

Hope that helps.
